About This Tool
Upload forms often reject an image because its file size exceeds a limit, even when its dimensions look correct. This tool searches for an encoded result at or below the maximum size you choose. One KB here means 1,000 bytes and one MB means 1,000,000 bytes.
When to Use It
Use a target when an application form, email workflow, or publishing tool specifies a byte limit. Start with the actual limit shown by that service. You can apply the same target to a batch, but each image is compressed independently.
How It Works Locally
For JPG and WebP, the browser tries your maximum quality and then searches lower quality settings, down to 10%. If you explicitly allow smaller dimensions, it can also reduce width and height proportionally. Attempts are bounded so difficult targets cannot run indefinitely.
Impact on Image Quality
Lower JPEG or WebP quality discards detail. PNG does not respond to a quality slider, so a smaller PNG may require dimension reduction or a format change. The result shows its exact byte size and whether the target was met. A missed target still produces a downloadable result with a warning.
Your Images Stay on Your Device
Your images are decoded and processed on your device. Image contents are not uploaded to a processing server. Downloads and ZIP creation also happen locally.
Browser Support & Performance
Use a recent browser with canvas image support. WebP encoding and HEIC decoding availability vary; unsupported files produce an error without stopping the rest of your batch. Large images and repeated compression attempts take longer on mobile devices.
